Dear Survivor:

You made it one more day. You found the strength to keep going. I am so proud of you. You see, we are the kind of club that members do not want to attend. Who wants to attend the I lost my loved one to suicide club? It is difficult isn't it? A piece of you is gone and your entire life changed in one day. Suicide grief is a different kind of animal. It's not like a typical death, it's traumatic, not pretty, and a rollercoaster. I understand your pain 100%. I am here to tell you, if you do the work and take care of yourself and find a way to discover your loved one in another way, you are going to make it. You are going to find a little peace and happiness along the way, all while living with your suicide grief. You are different now. Don't be ashamed of that and own your needs and don't take less than what you need to heal yourself!Much Love,AlisonBurt and Company Survivors

MOTHER TO SON

Well, son, I’ll tell you:

Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

It’s had tacks in it,And splinters,

And boards torn up,

And places with no carpet on the floor—Bare;

But all the timeI’se been a’climbin’ on,

And reachin’ landin’s,And turnin’ corners,

And sometimes goin’ in the dark, Where there ain’t been no light.

So boy, don’t you turn back;

Don’t you sit down on the steps,

’Cause you finds it’s kinder hard;

Don’t you fall now—

For I’se still goin’,

honey,I’se still climbin’,

And life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.
